As members of a sustainable development consultancy, the management and staff of ÉEM attempt to “practice what we preach” by contributing to the well being of local and global communities.

The underlying principles of our Community Engagement Policy are:

To support the prevention and mitigation of environmental impacts and to enhance the quality of life in the community;
To maximize the value of our contribution to the community by placing emphasis on the benefits which our expertise can bring;
To ensure that all staff are given opportunities to participate in the effort.

Our actions in support of this policy consist of volunteer contributions of professional time from individuals, which are matched by the company, and financial contributions, to a selection of community causes, consistent with the policy principles.

For example, in 2007 ÉEM provided financial and professional support to:

• the Nature Conservancy, through the Sutton Mountain Range conservation event in May.
• the Défi diner sans déchets (zero waste lunchbox initiative) of École St-Thomas in Hudson, Québec.
• the Empress Cultural Centre in the NDG district of Montreal, where our offices are located.

We are also supporting some local private organizations as they attempt to reduce their ecological footprints, including the Monkland Tennis Club and Lower Canada College.
