EEM worked with resort developer Proinversion to implement participatory planning in the development of 2 resorts in the Dominican Republic. The mandate involved identifying and mobilizing key community stakeholders to engage in addressing regional development concerns through long-term, multi-sector partnerships and in co-designing socially and environmentally sustainable tourism master plans.

Results

By leveraging environmental protection and community development practices to ensure long-term profitability, these projects will become models for sustainable resort development in the country.
