Analysis of community relations performance and capacity building


EEM and its stakeholder information management partner worked with a mining client to analyse community relations reporting with the aim of improving social performance and identifying capacity building opportunities.

Approach and Solution

The mandate involved collaborating closely with our information management system partner in reviewing monthly community relations reports produced by the client’s stakeholder information management system and originating from a team of community liaison officers covering different regions around the mining project. The objectives were to identify social risks to the project, to determine areas where performance indicators, data management and reporting could be improved, and to highlight capacity building needs for community relations personnel.


Key project risks were identified from an independent perspective and changes were made to the company’s performance tracking and reporting system that improved management and decision-making.
