Mining and metals, Canada Facilitation of regional biodiversity and conservation planning
Summary
EEM was invited to facilitate a process to identify common objectives and initiatives for conservation planning in a region of extensive mining activity and align the work of multiple stakeholders.
Approach and Solution
EEM facilitated a conservation and biodiversity management planning process with a mining company, two municipalities, a First Nations community, and a conservation organization. The process identified individual and common goals and considered different interests in order to reach a shared understanding of actions and agreement on ways to bridge gaps.
Results
The project developed the foundations for a regional biodiversity and conservation action plan and provided input to regional land use planning.
