Audits and due diligence

Environmental due diligence assessments

Independent reviews and audits for development projects, acquisitions and investments

Environmental and social considerations have become as important to the success of companies and their operations as traditional business performance.  When investors, insurers, buyers, regulators and the public evaluate long-term viability and social acceptability, they expect businesses to understand their environmental and social risks and demonstrate sound approaches to managing these risks.

To those ends, EEM has conducted environmental and social due diligence assessments in Canada, the U.S. and West Africa on behalf of businesses and indigenous peoples.  Working closely with both groups helps us understand their respective objectives and concerns.

Our offer

EEM offers the following environmental and social due diligence services:

  • Independent environmental and social reviews of mine development projects, based on internationally recognized criteria, such as the IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards.
  • Independent reviews of environmental and social impact assessments, to ascertain conformance with regulations and stakeholder expectations.
  • Due diligence audits of properties or projects targeted for investment, divestment or acquisition, or to establish compliance with environmental bond criteria.
